Who is Morris Day?
Good ideas for old neighborhoods
MORRIS-DAY, INC. A RESIDENTIAL DESIGN, ARCHITECTURE, AND CONSTRUCTION COMPANY based in McLean, Virginia, a suburb of Washington, DC. We specialize in designing and building homes in historic, once neglected neighborhoods which are now enjoying a resurgence in popularity because of their proximity to the city and their inherent charm & livability.
Rob Morris, active in residential design since graduating from Auburn University in 1984, made the leap into construction and created Morris-Day in 1987 (Founding partner Walter Day retired in 1995). Rob had become frustrated with the lack of craftsmanship displayed by most of the builders he encountered and the complacency of the home-buying public, who seemed willing to accept mediocrity.
Morris-Day has a reputation for designing and building homes respectful of their historic context, while at the same time meetingthe demands of the modern families that reside in them. We believe that our success is due in large part to our enthusiasm for older residential styles (other than “builder colonial”) and a growing number of consumers seeking well-crafted homes with character.
Our homes have been featured in numerous publications and recently won Arlington’s Preservation Design Award for New Construction.
